Supported Charities

For the year 2011-12 the club is dividing its fund-raising activities between two registered charities.

The primary focus is the Inglesham Lock Appeal which aims to restore and re-commission the final lock on the Thames & Severn Canal at Inglesham, which is a crucial part in providing access to the Cotswold Canals from the River Thames.

Alongside this, and in response to the recent renovation of the facilities at The Wharf, the club intends to make funds available to provide desperately needed sanitation and water facilities to a school in Burundi, an extremely poor African country where very few people have access to clean water and safe sanitation.

Kidlington town centre (easiest canal access is from bridge 228) has a large Co-op, a Tesco Metro, newsagents, various takeaways (Chinese, Indian, fish & chips), chemist, Post Office hardware store, etc.

There is also a library in Kidlington with free internet access, but at busy times you may have to wait a short while.

Buses

Stagecoach run a regular hourly bus service (No 59) to Kidlington, Oxford and Banbury during the day, with additional buses to the airport during peak hours.

There is also a 24 hr bus service from Oxford as far as Kidlington town centre (No 2), which leaves a 30 min walk to Thrupp should you miss the last bus home!
